French Regional Red Wine

cl Bottle
This wine combines French wine-making and elegance with the flamboyance of the new world. Le Coq is a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon from the Languedoc given a boost by the addition of ripe Grenache. It is complex with a mix of cherry and chocolate, vanilla and blackberry, structured with a classic backbone of oak.
Sacha Lichine purchased his Provencal estate, Chateau d’Esclans, in 2005. His father, of Russian descent, and American mother, had built their wealth and reputation with a Bordeaux business which included Chateaux Prieurie Lichine and Lascombes in Margaux. Sacha Lichine has continued with the family tradition for innovation, by drawing on his wide experience of winemaking and his keen understanding of consumer needs. After €3m renovations at d’Esclans, Sacha is producing the finest Provence Roses under the winemaking guidance of Patrick Leon (ex-Chateau Mouton Rothschild) and a range of contemporary Mediterranean wines with the ‘chicken’ labels, whose fruit forward style makes them immediately enjoyable.
